The semiannual event Follow Our L.E.A.D., hosted by the Career Services Marketing Committee and USPB, occurred Monday night on the second floor of The DeNaples Center. Follow Our L.E.A.D., which stands for Leadership Empowerment Acquisition Development, was set up not only to persuade students to go to Career Services, but also to give students the opportunity of seeing how they would be helped firsthand. The event raked in more than 50 students in a two-hour time period. There were multiple stations set up to give people information on how to advance and grow into a successful professional upon graduation. Stations ranged from interview tips to College Central Network and LinkedIn to a table composed of Career Service staff members checking resumes on the spot.
Career Services puts together a marketing committee every year to advertise and promote its helpful and critical amenities that The University has here on campus. The committee consists of 11 members of all different ages and majors who come together on a weekly basis to discuss new ways of promoting all that Career Services has to offer. Although there are internships and work study opportunities available at the Office of Career Services, the Career Services Marketing Committee works behind the scenes almost as a separate entity with the pure goal of getting undergraduate students through the doors at Ciszek Hall. The committee is an excellent way to get involved at The University and can provide the rewarding feeling of helping every student that walks into Career Services. Throughout the rest of this year and next, there will continue to be numerous events hosted by the Career Services Marketing Committee. Some things to look out for will be making desserts on the third floor of DeNaples, another Follow our L.E.A.D. spring event, Quizzo Late Night Events and the annual Spring Career Carnival, which was hosted on the DeNaples Patio last year.
