The Scranton men’s lacrosse team continued its hot streak by routing Drew University 14-2 Saturday at Fitzpatrick Field.

Sophomore attacker Andrew Marone scored a career-high four goals and added an assist to help improve his team’s record to 8-4 on the season.

With the game tied 1 -1, Marone found the back of the net to give the Royals a lead they would hold the remainder of the game.

The Royals received two more goals from Marone during the second period, as they scored six times to increase their lead to seven.

The Royals controlled the tempo of the game, out-shooting the Rangers 34-13 and winning 13 of 19 face-offs.

Sophomore midfielder Alec Mikrut added three goals and an assist, and senior attacker Gus Sturm tallied two goals and an assist.

Senior Matt Tibbitts, juniors Anthony Lombardo and Will Mahle, sophomore Andrew Callaghan and first year Brian Quinn also scored a goal each for the Royals.

Senior John Gregitis contributed to the win with two assists, bringing his points-total to 33 on the season. Gregitis ranks fourth in points (33) and fifth in goals (18) in the Landmark Conference this season.

Drew received a goal each from Andrew Marone’s older brother Mike Marone and Andrew Somps, both senior attackers.

With the win, Scranton remains unbeaten against Landmark Conference opponents this season (3-0). The Royals currently sit alone at the top of the conference in first place with four regular season games remaining.

Unfortunately for the Royals, Franklin and Marshall College snapped the Royal’s win streak Wednesday in a 13 – 7 loss.

Scranton will play its last home game this week when it hosts Merchant Marine Academy at 1 p.m. Saturday.
