BRENDAN DONEGAN will address his peers as the student speaker at undergraduate commencement May 31.

Brendan Donegan will address his peers at The University’s undergraduate commencement May 31.
Elected by his peers, Donegan said he plans to talk about passion and the value of a Jesuit education in his speech.

“If I have to be part of the boring ceremony, I might as well participate,” Donegan said with a chuckle.

Donegan is a communication major with a concentration in advertising and a minor in business. He has accepted a position with Tech Systems Inc., where he will begin working June 8.

Donegan said he loves the University community, and he is quite involved on campus. He recently led the Manresa II retreat and was a member of the advertising competition team this year. He also plays intramural basketball and is a member of Knights of Columbus.

Donegan is not new to public speaking. He won Last Comic Standing in his junior year, and he recently starred in Katie Greene’s original short film, “Taped.”

Donegan said he hopes his speech encourages his classmates to be lifelong learners.
“Stay motivated and keep learning, but don’t forget to relax and enjoy the ride.”
