The women’s soccer team has gotten off to an impressive start to the season. In their first six games, the team has compiled a 4-1-1 record, with wins against Kean University, Cortland State, Marywood University and Farmingdale State.
All of their wins so far came via shutout. With conference play coming up soon, these type of wins are essential for the team’s confidence.

“This season I am very confident that our team will be able to capture the Landmark Conference championship,” sophomore standout Brittany Uricchio said.

Uricchio has scored a remarkable two goals for the club, one of which coming against longtime rival Marywood.
Uricchio has started all six games for the club and looks to be a major contributor for the rest of the year.

The one loss that the team suffered was against Swarthmore, one of the best teams in the nation, in overtime. That was the only hiccup so far, and the team bounced back well from that loss. They open up conference play this Saturday in a tough test at Moravian.

After that, the team has their second home game, as they defend their turf against Wilkes Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The women’s soccer team has shut out their opponents in victories, displaying total domination.
They keep pressure on the opposing defense, averaging just over seven shots on goal per game, and with that type of pressure all game, it is hard not to let up goals.

Senior Carolyn Warner, who also has two goals to her name this season, said the team’s objective this year was simply to win.

“Our objective for this season is definitely to make it to the (Landmark Conference) championship game and bring the title home to Scranton. We have made it to the finals the past three years and have fallen short each time. Our senior class wants to make the most of our last year, and I know that our team has the potential to win a championship.” They certainly have been showing that potential early on in the season.

Losing three straight championship games is a tough pill to swallow, but this team has been handling it perfectly, and have been successful so far, as they look to keep winning and making strides toward that elusive conference championship the team so desperately desires.
